RE: New TV + Old Antenna = No Picture?

My MH also has a switch to switch between cable or antenna.

RE: 1990-93 Safari thoughts? How wide?

Do you want to spend all day doing 40 mph on hills?
Even in Colorado, you don't spend a lot of time on 6% grades. I stay with the flow most of the time, and with the trucks on a 6% grade. I'd like a little more power, but if you like the rig, I wouldn't let it be the deal breaker.

RE: 1990-93 Safari thoughts? How wide?

My 90 Safari Ivory has a Detroit engine. It lacks for power a little in the mountains, but will pull a 6% grade all day at 40 mph without a complaint.
Thanks Dave,
Any other comments on the Safari; build quality, roof leaks?, etc
Thanks
Build quality is great for it's day, you won't find many new ones with as high of quality cabinetry.
I haven't had any issues with my roof at all.
With any rig of that age, you need to expect some handy work. Most of the problems with mine have been small things. The previous owner didn't know how to drive in the mountains, so the brakes were burned up when I got it. I've had mine for almost 9 years, and would buy it again if I had it to do over.

RE: The dreaded brown mound or pyramid...

The one time I had to deal with this issue, I cut a stick that would reach the bottom of the tank thru the toilet to stir till I could feel the bottom of the tank. It was hard enough that ice would have had no effect. Just have a trash bag handy for the stick when it comes out.
Not the most pleasant job, but it only takes a couple minutes, you just need to figure out how to dispose of the stick. ;)

RE: Which battery does your generator work off?

In fact will charge faster off the ALT then the generator.
That depends on the charger, the alternator, other loads they are supplying, and wiring. My charger is 140 amps, the alternator is 150 amps but it has to supply a lot of power to run the motor home.
There are other things to considder when charging dead house batteries from the alternator. IE: when the dead battery is suddenly placed in parrell with the fully charged chassis battery, the chassis battery is contributing to the charge of the dead ones, along with the output of the alternator. Without measuring the charging current, it isn't cut and dried. If the 1/2 hour difference one way or the other was a problem, I'd go with the alternator.

RE: Which battery does your generator work off?

I had that problem once. All I had to do was start the main engine, and then was able to start the generator. My boost switch is only to use house battery to start the main engine.

RE: Pressure Washer for Washing Motorhome

I own a pressure washer, and am always looking for uses for it, but I don't use it on my MH. First of all I don't think it's any easier than a bucket of hot soapy water, soft brush and a sprayer on the hose, and it doesn't do as good of a job.
I do use it from time to time on my other rigs to wash the mud and road grit off, but it always leaves a film that only a brush will take off (same as a car wash).

RE: Travel to Alaska

There are no "cities" between Edmonton and Anchorage, but there are towns, for the most part about every 150+- miles. It's a fun trip (long, but fun). Get and read the "Milepost" magazine, it'll tell you everything you need to know.

RE: Coach battery charging problem part 2

Yes I want to use 1/2 of the series sets, with the other pair disconnected. The problem is the converter was connected to the common +
terminal of the now disconnected pair.
The question I have is where to connect the converter to the remaining pair. I now have it on the - terminal of the - to + jumper.
Right or wrong??
REBGORV
Wrong! it sounds like you're breaking the circuit in the wrong place. the two batteries left in the circuit should be connected converter to + on #1, - on #1 to +#2, and - of #2 to the other side of the converter.
What Hershey said will get you out of a bind.

RE: Stove quit at 7000 ft

It must be that regulator? I would have the propane co. check it out.
I've camped at much higher altitudes than that with never a problem.

RE: LOL! pissed off my Garmin Nuvie!

When you're on a new road that isn't in the data base it will do that. Mine thought I was out in the middle of nowhere with no road to turn around on, but still insisted I was off route. I just turned it off untill we were past the new section, where it resumed as normal.
Read the signs and be prepaired to overrule (and be prepaired to take the flack if the GPS was correct).;)

RE: 50 Amp hook up installation...

A skilled electrician shouldn't need special instructions to wire a NEMA 14-50R, the instructions are on the back side of the plug.
On a new service, I would test the voltage before I plugged in.

RE: ziploc omelete?

We nead (sp?) the bag half way thru the cooking time for even cooking (use gloves). Over cooking will make the eggs rubbery, and cheese will make it appear under cooked.
It is important to use high quality FREEZER bags so that the bag won't melt!
The idea is to have a little fun with it. I don't know that it's any easier than on the griddle.

RE: 2007 Malibu run wire through firewall

The way I did it on my Vue is tape the wire to a long/thin screw driver, lube the screw driver with a little dish soap, and push it thru the rubber boot where the other wires go (new hole), untape on the other side and pull the screw driver back.
PS: A trick with the tape to make it easier to untape is to fold the end back, sticky to sticky side, leaving a tab. otherwise it will be impossible to find the end.

I think you'll come out ahead by having it replaced. If you trade with the damage, you can expect to take a hit.

RE: 3x 6volt golf cart batteries

Well actually, you could put 2 6-volt batteries in parallel and then parallel that pair to a single 6-volt battery. While the configuration may be possible, it is likely that the single 6-volt battery will be doing most of the work, i.e., providing the most current of the 3 since the 2 in parallel will be providing the other half of the current draw.
Clear as mud? I wouldn't suggest this configuration. You will find that the single battery will drain much faster than the other 2.
I think you mean two 6 volt batteries in parallel with the third in series to make 12 volts. The way you said it would total 6 volts.
Either way, not a good idea ;)

RE: Inverter problem

Make sure it is receiving voltage from the batteries. Then check for 120 volt output at the inverter to make sure the problem isn't somewhere else.

RE: Which One Of These Generators Would You Get?

To answer your question,--- take the lowest price.
I wouldn't want either one, and wouldn't care to camp near one. There's good reason they charge more for Yahama or Honda.
